50 Cent is a rapper who always been concerned about stacking dollars and gaining wealth but according to the latest reports, the “Get Rich Or Die Trying” rapper is having a hard time keeping his coins as a victim of credit card fraud.
According to nydailynews.com, 50 Cent, who resides in Farmington, Conn., is apparently an easy target in his state and has had recurring trouble over illicit use of his American Express card over the years.
Since 2007, thieves have tried to use Amex numbers belonging to 50 Cent to make illegal purchases in at least five different cities, including New York and Hartford, Conn.
One incident described in the article, shows that two young Hartford men were arrested late last year after attempting to use 50 Cent’s Amex numbers to illegally purchase two $1,000 Sony flat screen televisions from a West Hartford electronics boutique. However, the two men aren’t believed to be the masterminds behind the crime.
Frank Canace, a police officer and defense attorney for one of the arrested men, Daniel Vargas, confirmed the court record concerning Vargas and explained that he himself has been “in court at least three times” when 50 Cent’s name “has popped up as a victim of credit card crime.”
Sources claim that authorities believe the culprit behind all of these crimes is a likely a personal friend or associate of 50 Cent who is close enough to the rapper to have access to his personal information.
Neither 50 Cent nor a spokesperson has yet to comment on the credit card fraud incidents.
