Diddy and Dirty Money Sell Out Atlanta's Tabernacle

… money answers all things. ~  ecclesiastes 10:19

Diddy, aka Sean Combs, can’t lose for winning, it seems. His physique isn’t extraordinary, his lyrical skills aren’t exactly prolific and he’s no spring chicken … but he’s found the answer: money.

Sure, the hip-hop mogul initially had to grind in obscurity to ultimately make a name for himself. But after he put in the preliminary work to lay the foundation,  Diddy can now do no wrong. The wads of cash that Diddy has earned through ventures such as Bad Boy (Biggie Smalls, Faith Evans, Mary J Blige, 112), Sean Jean, Justin’s, etc. will propel him the rest of the way.

Scripture is immutable, right?

Diddy-Dirty Money breezed through Atlanta last night as part of his Coming Home tour.  The group stopped by popular concert venue, the Tabernacle, in the city’s downtown area and sold the place out. Accompanied by the group’s Dawn Richard (formerly of Danity Kane) and Kalenna Harper — representing for the sexy brown-skinned women,  the 40-something musician kept ATLiens hyped with not only his well received Dirty Money tracks from the Last Train to Paris project, but also bangers from his heyday as a producer and artist in the ’90s.

“This is home, I love Atl, I have Justin’s here … I’ve had my career ups and downs, but y’all prayed for me,” Diddy said when addressing the crowd.

Special guests at the show were ATL’s own Lloyd, who opened the show, and Ciara, along with fellow mogul Jermaine Dupri, who stopped by with jailbird Da Brat. The production was also enhanced with digital-screen appearances by Rick Ross, Chris Brown, Swizz Beatz, Lil Wayne and Biggie Smalls.

Here are more highlights from the show:
-Roscoe Dash performed his popular single No Hands.
-Rocko performed “We Aint Goin Steady”.
-Big Boi performed past and present hits.
-Diddy did a tribute for Biggie, Left Eye, Aaliyah, 2 Pac and others, following Dirty Money’s hit song “I’m Coming Home”
-Popular DJ and radio host Greg Street came on stage and shared a few words with Diddy

-YC & Future wrapped it up with “Racks on Racks”

Typically, an over-the-hill artist wearing a fat gold chain and bouncing around the stage like a young rapper would come off as corny, but Diddy is in an elite group that’s exempt from such criticism. Only a handful of hip-hop icons such as Jay-Z, Dougie Fresh and the like get that pass … and Diddy uses his wisely.

Diddy’s Paris-bound train is keeping him musically relevant and he’s wise to ride it until the wheels fall off.  But that will be a while, because he has both Dirty Money and just plain ol’ money.
