On the May 8 episode of “Celebrity Apprentice,” fans watched the typically thick-skinned NeNe Leakes abruptly walk away from the competition, claiming she was fed up with Star Jones and the show. During a visit to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on May 11, the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star explained that despite being criticized for her exit, she doesn’t regret quitting the show.
“No, I don’t regret it. I felt very good about it. I always do what my gut tells me to do,” said Leakes, who was criticized by Donald Trump after walking away from the show. “I’m a grown woman and nobody makes decisions for me — I make my own decisions. It was a toxic situation for me.”
When asked about her infamous on-screen blowup with Jones in front of clients, Leakes explains that she doesn’t regret confronting Jones, but wishes she would’ve handled the situation better.
“I needed to get it out. Now, I don’t live with regret but I wish I could’ve maybe had a different delivery, maybe better word choices,” said Leakes. “However, I’m OK with it. I feel that she deserved it and I know everybody in Hollywood knows I’m telling the truth.
And when DeGeneres mentioned that her audience applauded when she previously announced that Jones had been fired by Trump, Leakes decided to get in one last jab against the former the The View co-host, responding, “Yeah let’s clap about it,” before leading the audience in a round of applause.
