Rihanna, Amber Rose, Nicki Minaj, Cassie … all can be dubbed as leading ladies in the pack of the trendsetters. From fire-engine red tresses to a half shaved mane, they’ve all made the entertainment scene fun and refreshing as far as creating a unique sense of style. But what happens when regular women embrace these trends?
Celebrities inspire women to ask their hairstylists to give them the latest look. With Cassie’s infamous half shaved head she responded:
“Sometimes in life, you need a change. Something that displays the ‘I don’t give a f— attitude that was always present, but never showcased. Something deeper than what you thought you were capable of. And something that will shock your mother, but make her call you a rock star.”
The question is, are these edgy hairstyles suitable for the everyday girl? Hair is oftentimes an individual expression of yourself, and depending on your work environment, whether it be a creative atmosphere or corporate environment, you have to be the deciding factor on how realistic it is for you to rock these trends.
There’s nothing wrong with inspiration, but try taking it and making it your own. It might be best that the fire engine red hues, pink wigs and half shaved heads are left to the stars performing on stage. –mckenzie harris
