Bay Area Artist Metro P Drops Single With E-40 and Lyfe Jennings

Since the release of Prophet or Playboy Vol.I: The Rebirth, the success of his single “Lavish” featuring Bobby V, catching the attention of Def Jam Records’ EVP, the late Shakir Stewart and independently selling over 300,000 units nationwide, Metro P has continued to build on his brand and create music that helps people focus on enjoying life. Metro P has built an immense buzz on the Bay Area music scene and continues to make competitive and catchy music that fans continuously rave about. “The Life,” written by Metro P and Lyfe Jennings and produced by super producers The Bizness, will bring a smooth and sexy summer feel to the airwaves. While “Go,” written by Metro P, E-40 and Gennessee and produced by Haji Springer, will take it back to Metro P’s roots and rep for the Bay Area.

What was it like to work with Lyfe and E-40?

It was exciting working with Bay Area legend E-40. This was just the beginning of some incredible and historic moments we plan on creating. Lyfe Jennings has one of the most soulful voices of our times. It was a pleasure to create and be a part of a mainstream record like “The Life.”

How do you think your fans will react to you releasing a mainstream single?

I think fans will be surprised. We’re also currently releasing a record with Bay Area artist Mistah Fab, which focuses on the senseless violence in urban neighborhoods and also the unjustified killings by Bay Area police. The song is titled “Pricetag.” The concept is that there seems to be a price tag on the lives of young urban kids via it be self-inflicted or at the hands of those who are supposed to serve and protect. The record is definitely powerful.

What advice can you give other independent artists trying to sell their music ?

With the Internet making it easier to reach millions of fans through popular blog sites, just create the music you’re passionate about and get interactive. That’s the most simple and real advice I can give. Everything else will fall in place after that.
