Beyonce Covers 'Harper's Bazaar' Magazine: Talks Pregnancy, Jay-Z and Sibling Rivalry

Pushing Beyonce’s latest video plagiarism accusations aside, King B is on the cover of the November 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

Titled “Beyonce: Sexy and Pregnant,” the cover was shot by photographer Terry Richardson. In the cover shoot Beyonce wore a gold Reed Krakoff dress and beaded jacket by Salvatore Ferragamo. Inside the issue she sports jackets by Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Ralph Lauren Blue Label, a Fendi coat, a swimsuit by Chanel Cruise Antibes and a bodysuit by Dolce & Gabbana.

Here’s what the 30 year old entertainer had to say in the issue.

On pregnancy and motherhood

“It was important to me that I gave myself time to focus on becoming the woman I wanted to be, building my empire, my relationship, and my self-worth, before I became a mother,” she says. “Now God has blessed us with the ultimate.”

On avoiding sibling rivalry with Solange

“I think it’s because I have always been the big sister. I am five years older than Solange, and just always felt the need to love and protect her. I just never had it in me to fight with my sister. We are very different in what we like and how we do things, but those differences added to our friendship.
The love I have for her is indescribable.”

On hubby Jay-Z

“We have been together since I was 20 years old. We took our time and developed an unbreakable friendship before we got married. I admire his ability to inspire others. To me, Jay represents the American dream. Jay’s music has helped define our generation. All that he has overcome and worked to achieve, gives millions hope that they can become whatever they want to be. I respect him so much. He is a great man and a great artist.”

On what makes her feel sexy

“I like to show my waistline and legs. I feel women should find their best features and accentuate them, but it’s interesting to be versatile. I let my mood dictate what I wear, before my curves. Sometimes I feel classic, sometimes I feel like a hipster. Sometimes I feel like a seductress and sometimes I feel like a tomboy. It’s great to be a woman and have the freedom to express my emotions through fashion.”

On being ready to run the world

“I am finally at the stage in my life where I am not so concerned with other people’s opinions about my life decisions. It is so liberating to really know what I want, what truly makes me happy, what I will not tolerate. I have learned that it is no one else’s job to take care of me, but me.”
