Marcus Manchild has been a fixture on Houston’s new-school scene since joining local independent label, the Authentik Music Group, dropping two projects, The Preseason and SPACEDOUT. It was this second project that produced the break-out hit, “Get Off Me,” earning him radio play. Manchild’s music videos have amassed over a million views on YouTube over the past couple of years, and afforded him the opportunity to record with a host of household names including; Big K.R.I.T., Yo Gotti, Slim Thug, Boo Rossini, Bun B, Soullja Boy, Chamillionaire, Paul Wall, Devin the dude, ZRo and Killa Kyleon. The Houston up-and-comer can be seen in  a town near you — courtesy of The Smoker’s Club Tour — in which he joins Method Man, Curren$y, BIG K.R.I.T. and more. The tour will last a little over a month, hitting 32 cities including Philadelphia, New York, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Atlanta and D.C. Marcus joins the tour after a week of promotion in his home state, celebrating the drop of his new mixtape, Preseason 2, hosted by DJ Ill Will. –alex green

How did you become a part of the Smokers Club Tour?
George and Jonny Shipes hooked up and it popped off from there. I consider it a blessing, so I’m out there every night rockin’ the crowd.

How did you know that AMG would be the right label home for you?
AMG is a label, but AMG is my family. Nate and Chad have been family friends for a while. They hooked me up with George and we’ve been going hard ever since.

What advice can you give up-and-coming artists?
I would say grind hard and find your sound. Get up there in front of … people, whether it be 50 people or 5,000 people, and leave it all on stage. And learn the business side as well as the music.
