Rihanna Cancels Another Show Due to Exhaustion: 5 Reasons She Should Be More Health-Conscious

Rihanna’s health has been on a downward spiral over the last few days, and as expected, the singer, who was recently hospitalized after coming down with the flu, canceled her second show in three days on Nov. 2, calling off a performance in Stockholm, Sweden.

According to Billboard, tour promoter Live Nation announced the cancellation just an hour before the show was set to begin, with Live Nation spokesman Kristofer Akesson saying Rihanna “is exhausted and doesn’t feel well.”

On Oct. 31, Live Nation canceled Rihanna’s show in Malmo, Sweden, just hours before she was to hit the stage.

Shortly thereafter, Rihanna revealed to her fans via Twitter that she’d been hospitalized due to the flu.

“I am sorry to everyone who was coming out to my show in Malmo, Switzerland,” Rihanna said. “I was so excited to perform for you all. It would have been a great time … so much better than being sick with the flu, ugh! I’m really disappointed I couldn’t be there.”

Just a day later, reports came in that the flu wasn’t the only thing hampering Rihanna’s health. Apparently, the Bajan singer was also suffering from exhaustion due to her party lifestyle, busy tour schedule and extreme hours in the studio. Rihanna’s doctors subsequently advised her to cut down on her drinking and partying to avoid any further illness.

Well, it looks like Rihanna is getting rest for now, but we’ll see if she can curb her party lifestyle once she’s back to full health and returns to her tour on, as expected, on Nov. 13 in London. And while we’re thinking about it, here are five reasons why the Bajan beauty should be more health conscious. –nicholas robinson

1. Talk That Talk – Rihanna’s new Album, Talk That Talk, is slated for release on Nov. 21 and with the album’s first single soaring to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and the video for the song earning massive YouTube hits as well as critical acclaim, Rihanna has proven why her new album is one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

2. It’s a dog-eat-dog music world. – Let’s face it, seven years ago when Rihanna first hit the music scene with her lukewarm album, Music of the Sun, who would’ve thought that she’d be where she is now? Yet, year after year, she continuously proved her detractors wrong, selling album after album and gaining fan after fan until finally reaching the top of music’s hierarchy and arguably becoming the heir to the pop throne that Beyoncé has occupied for so long. American audiences are fickle, and if her health continues to fail and she continues to disappoint, she will lose her place in music to another hungry upstart.

3. Her body – Let’s be honest, Rihanna is hot … seriously … HOT! And every man and woman, gay, straight or bisexual, with a healthy libido enjoys watching her girate and pose on stage, in videos and in magazines. If her health fades, we no longer get to see that as often and that is simply a crime.

4. Chris Brown – We know deep down that most of you are secretly waiting for the next big news on Chris Brown and Rihanna’s never-ending connection. Seriously, why do you think you loved her video for “We Found Love” so much? The obvious Chris Brown influence, that’s why. If she continues to get sick and her star power plummets, what other former couple will we (secretly) obsess over?

5. It’s her quality of life on the line and we care. – All random and trivial thoughts aside, Rihanna’s quality of life alone is enough reason for her to become a more health-conscious individual. In the past, stars like Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and more recently, Rick Ross, have all suffered medical or psychological emergencies from exhaustion. And while Rihanna’s health problems haven’t escalated to that level — or worse— if she keeps on partying and working like she has, it’s only a matter of time before she gets her own serious wake-up call. And no one wants to see that happen. Hopefully, Rihanna will begin to understand that her health is more valuable than her craft, and that the work she puts into maintaining her health today will ultimately affect her health for the better in the future.
