Oprah Winfrey is the lone black American on Forbes World’s Billionaires list. The media maven ranks No. 442 of the 1,226 billionaires listed from around the world. Oprah, with a net worth valued at $2.6 billion, joins a handful of other blacks who made the list which includes Mohammed Al-Amoudi (Saudi Arabia, $12.5 billion); Aliko Dangote (Nigeria, $11.2 billion); Mike Adenuga (Nigeria, $4.3 billion); Patrice Motsepe (South Africa, $2.7 billion); and Mo Ibrahim (United Kingdom, $1.1 billion).
It’s no surprise that she’d make the list, the queen of talk keeps a spot on many of Forbes annual lists ranking No. 2 on Celebrity 100, No. 139 on Forbes 400 and No. 14 on the Powerful Women list.
Media Mogul Bob Johnson once held a position on the list, making the cover of Forbes magazine in 2001 as one of the 400 Richest People in America, but has since fallen off. Find out who we predict may land a spot on the coveted list next year.
