T.I., Young Jeezy and Big Boi Pass the Torch to Future at Album Release Concert

T.I., Young Jeezy, Big Boi and Gucci Mane all believe that Future is poised to be the next Atlanta-based rapper to have a huge impact in music. On April 17, Future celebrated the release of his debut album, Pluto, by performing before a capacity crowd at Masquerade in Atlanta.

The outer space theme became evident from the beginning as three models dressed as astronauts danced on the stage before Future started his set.

The man of the hour eventually hit the stage and performed “Gone to the Moon” with what seemed like 50 other individuals in tow.

He segued way into his first hit “Racks on Racks” before bringing out several Atlanta rap legends.

The crowd went into a frenzy as he rapped “Ain’t No Way Around It” with Big Boi. The two were also joined on stage by his cousin, Rico Wade of Organized Noize, DJ Drama and Khujo Goodie. Young Jeezy entered the stage after Big Boi and performed “Way Too Gone” with Future.

The high-energy crowd took it up a notch as Future brought out T.I. to perform their hit song “Magic.” T.I. also preformed “What You Know.” Gucci Mane was the next surprise as he and Future rapped several songs from their Freebicks mixtape. Fellow rappers Rocko, Gucci Mane and Houston’s Trae the Truth were all on stage as Future closed with the hit “Same Damn Time.”

In a sense, T.I., Young Jeezy, Big Boi and Gucci Mane were all passing the torch to Future by supporting the young rapper’s first major concert in his hometown.

Epic Records CEO and chairman L.A. Reid was also in attendance and witnessed Future’s superior ability to put on an interesting show. If this concert was any indication of things to come, the future definitely looks bright for the young rap star. –amir shaw
