Phenomenally U Program Proves Transformational for Young Sisters

Phenomenally U was a phenomenal success last Saturday as Sisters Sanctuary founder Lacey Clark and a prestigious and extremely dedicated panel of ladies (and one strong brother — Fatin of Kindred the Family Soul) got deeply involved with sharing, motivating and teaching teenage girls how reality television is “Tell Lie Vision” and how through self-respect and loving themselves unconditionally, they can be successful and lead happy and purpose-filled lives. This event is designed to counter the images of black women on “reality” TV with some actual reality presented in a meaningful and loving manner.

This free program, held at the Free Library of Philadelphia (19th and Vine), lasted only three hours, but gave a lifetime of direction to all in attendance. The panel included Lori Wilson of NBC Channel 10; hip-hop pioneer and 100.3 “The Beat” on-air personality Lady B; Fortune 500 corporate human resource specialist and mother of teenage daughter Mary Wilson; Dr Soyini Powell, OB/GYN, writer and mother; Dr Nicole Monteiro, psychologist; author and speaker Melinda “SmallBizLady” Emerson; and Robin “Khepera” Kearse of the Hip Hop Project along with the aforementioned Fatin Danztler of Kindred.

In addition to breaking into small groups with individual adult leaders, everyone came together and Clark presented questions from the participants to the panel in three separate areas; self-respect, success and sex. The information shared was transformational and many lives were changed for the better.
