Vidal Sassoon, Famed Hairdresser, Dies at 84; Celebs With His Signature Bob

The incomparable Vidal Sassoon, the hair styling master who created an empire, has passed away. Sassoon, 84, died Wednesday at his Los Angeles home. Police have confirmed that Sassoon, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010, died from natural causes.

Sassoon is credited for creating wash-and-wear cuts like the “bob”; his signature hairstyle that’s still popular today.


In addition to his signature styles, Sassoon launched a line of hair products under his name that peaked at more than $100 million annually before he sold the company in 1983. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Sassoon’s signature bob is still worn by a number of actors, models and entertainers who’ve all enjoyed the classic, easily maintained style.
