A popular Atlanta pastor was arrested this morning on charges of battery. According to Channel 2 Action News, megachurch icon Creflo A. Dollar Jr. was arrested by Fulton County authorities around 2 a.m. Friday morning. The news station reports that a judge set Dollar’s bond at $5,000 during a morning hearing.
A police report from the Fayette County Sheriff’s office now says that Dollar, 50, was taken into custody for attacking his 15-year-old daughter. The daughter whose name has not been released, told authorities that her father became enraged after she asked to attend a local party. They began to argue and things got physical, with Dollar choking her before throwing her to the ground, punching her and assaulting her with a shoe. Dollar has since admitted to “trying to restrain” his daughter by “spanking” her and wrestling her to the floor.
The World Changers Church International pastor is one of several megachurch leaders in the Atlanta area. In 2011, Dollar voiced support for Bishop Eddie Long, the embattled New Birth Missionary Baptist Church pastor who faced sexual coercion charges.
