Screenwriter Yvette Bennett Lends Shows off Her Craft in Studio 11 Films’ ‘Forbidden’

What drew you to this project?
The opportunity to work with the wonderfully talented professionals I have met through this program, and to send a message of love and acceptance of all people, because of and in spite of.

Where you were born/where you were raised?
I was born in Miami, Fla. Go Heat! We moved often because my father was in the military.

Zodiac Sign:
Virgo. The best sign to be!

What do you hope viewers walk away with after seeing Forbidden?
I am hoping people will walk away from this movie with more love in their hearts for their fellow man. People should love and accept one another for who we are because our differences are what make this world an awesome place to be.

Who are your personal idols in the film industry?
I admire Steven Spielberg, David Fincher and James Cameron.

Pop culture guilty pleasure:
Hmm, I have to say I don’t have one. Call me boring, I guess.

What’s on your music playlist?
Everything from Lady Antebellum and Carrie Underwood to Lil’ Wayne and Drake

Mac or PC?
Mac, all day long, every day

Previous work?
I’ve written for Studio 11 Films. I’ve worked on a few PZI Jeans commercials featuring LisaRaye McCoy. I have participated in the 24 Hour Film Festival and directed for the 48 Hour Film Contest. I’ve worked on projects with Georgia Public Broadcasting as the associate producer and directed a segment for Comcast Sports South, etc.

I was actually pre-med, but being a filmmaker brings me more joy and fulfillment than any job I have ever had or could have ever had. It’s like winning the lottery over and over.

Three things you can’t live without:
God, my children, and being a filmmaker.

“I’ll never understand why…”
Everyone does not work in their passion. Filmmaking is my passion.

Favorite screen or commercial opportunities:
I am still waiting to get a call from Steven Spielberg, David Fincher and/or James Cameron for that “favorite” opportunity. Waiting by the phone fellas
