Men Make 78 Babies, Pay Little to no Child Support

The infamous Tennessee man who fathered 30 children by 11 different women apparently has some fierce competition now that it’s being reported that two other men have also fathered an astronomical number of children. The Daily Mail reports that Desmond Hatchett, 33, has a similar story to that of Terry Turnage and Richard M. Colbert. Turnage has 23 children with 17 different women while Richard M. Colbert has 25 children with 18 different mothers. Even more interesting; all three of the men are Tennessee residents.

As previously reported, Hatchett made headlines in May after it was discovered that his already ridicoulous number of offspring had grown from 21 to 30. Furthermore the apparently very virile and very unemployed dad was said to be struggling to make child support payments and at one point showed up in court with a mere $400 for his baby’s mothers to split. Since then, several of them have complained of only receiving $1.98 in support payments.

Now Turnage’s name is making headlines for the 25 children he’s helped to make but apparently has failed to support. According to the Daily Mail, Terry Turnage of Memphis filed a petition at Shelby County Juvenile Court to lower his child support payments but never turned up to the hearing. LaToya Shields, one of the women he fathered a child with, told a local news organization that she was stunned to find out just how many children he had. “During the whole relationship, I only knew of four children. At that time, three years ago, my child was the 21st child. Yeah, that would be overwhelming for anybody.”

Lastly, there’s Richard M. Colbert, who has 25 children and 18 baby’s mothers and has openly refused to make support payments altogether. His reasoning? All of his offspring are adults. The Memphis resident later told Tennessee’s Action News 5 “Everybody’s not able to have children,” as if his rampant baby-making was an achievement.

The most well-known of the three super-sperm spreaders, Desmond Hatchett of Knoxville, is currently incarcerated at the Morgan County Correctional Complex stemming from aggravated assault and domestic violence charges.
