Before Mathew Knowles became a household name as the father/manager of one of the world’s biggest pop stars, Beyoncé, there was Christopher B. Pearman, the father of our favorite Cosby kid and Disney superstar, Raven-Symoné. Here, the TV dad and author of Dream So Big: A Parent’s Guide to Helping Your Child Believe and Achieve, talks about his latest project and teaming up with Studio 11 Films and 11 Eleven 11 Project to serve as a mentor. –yvette caslin

The incredible vision of Mel Jackson and Sharon Tomlinson and the incredible possibilities this project possesses.

Born in Riverside, Calif. and raised in Atlanta.

What is your background in the industry?
I’m a Director, producer, manager, writer, motivational speaker and author. I managed my daughter’s career for 19 years. Everyone knows her as Raven-Symone.

Why do you mentor?
To transfer my knowledge and wisdom to those coming up and aspiring to be great at whatever they wish to become

How do you assess a men-ee?
Their acumen and most importantly their spirit. In the spirit lies the truth and path of the individual. You learn this in their words and actions.

What is the ideal mentor/student relationship?
Mutual respect

How would you describe your personal style?
Very cerebral and classically laid back

How do you give credit where credit is due?
By doing just that … giving credit in words, thoughts and deeds!

How do you show others that you believe in them?
By telling them constantly with a calm demeanor and sincerity in ones delivery. Making sure they fully understand.. that you believe in them

Who has influenced you the most?
My parents, Joseph and Dorothy Pearman.

How do you guide your student to approach the unknown?
By having them eliminate the debilitating and paralyzing disease called fear.
