Anyone with two working eyes can see that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are in the throes of a whirlwind love affair. Rumors have already been flying that the passionate new couple are already discussing having kids, and now a new report claims that West is designing an engagement ring for Kardashian.
According to RadarOnline, West plans to propose to Kardashian as soon as her bitter divorce from NBA star Kris Humphries is finalized.
But that’s not even the most shocking part of the report. A source claims that West is using his late mother, Donda West’s, diamonds to design Kardashian’s ring.
“Kanye picked out some of Donda’s most expensive pieces, including some diamond earrings and a ruby ring,” the source claims.
“He then gave them to a private jeweler friend to make Kim a one-of-a-kind engagement ring,” the source continued. “Donda was such an important person in Kanye’s life, he thought the world of her and was devastated when she died. So, he kept all her jewelry as keepsakes — a lot of the pieces were items he bought over the years after he made it as a hip-hop star. And now, Kanye has found a woman he respects and loves just as much as his mom, so he wants to share her jewelry collection with Kim.”
However, some of West’s closest friends think that he’s crossed the line by using his mother’s jewels for the engagement ring.
“His friends think it’s a terrible idea and are advising him not to give Kim the ring. Because it’s a gift, it would be difficult for Kanye to ask for it back if they ever split up,” said the source. “They’ve also reminded him that Kim is not somebody who works hard for her money. She makes millions doing reality shows and selling her image, and Donda’s jewelry shouldn’t be part of that image.”
The source also claims that West is pushing Kim to have the wedding in Chicago, where he was raised, or Oklahoma, where his mother was born.
Well, if West does propose to Kardashian, he’ll become hip-hop’s next married superstar, like so many of his fellow hip-hop friends. Check out a list of his (soon-to-be) married hip-hop pals below. –nicholas robinson
