On July 25, 2012, in Atlanta, Monica Kaufman Pearson,  WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News anchor for 37 years, retires. Pearson changed the face of news when she became the first woman and minority anchor in 1975. On air for three and a half decades Monica Pearson, 64, is the longest-running anchor in the market. She has earned 29 Emmys, The Women’s Sports Journalism Award, 2 National American Women in Radio and Television Awards and she was inducted in Kentucky’s Journalism Hall of Fame.
