Miss Mykie Host of BET '106 and Park' Returns to Houston

It was an occasion that called for many cheers and celebratory smiles when Miss Mykie held a private dinner to announce her new role as co-host of BET’s 106 and Park, in the Elwood Room at House of Blues in Houston, Texas.

The Texas native born Mykel Gray, was sought out by the network after snagging their attention through her prominent web presence and pre-existing fan base as a recording artist. “I feel blessed more than anything because this wasn’t a situation where I was expecting something, it was all God,” Miss Mykie said as she beamed about her stars aligning. “The love has been so amazing, I’m having fun and I promise I am going to make ya’ll proud.”

What started as a trial run in July turned into a callback and BET’s future plans of her permanent home with the show. Miss Mykie’s new co-host family includes Bow Wow, Paigion and Shorty da Prince, who have proven to blend harmoniously on camera.“It really is a BET family because everyone has different personalities and vibes, bringing something different to the table but we all get along and respect one another, we’re all about sisterhood, brotherhood and being a positive impact on the community and they’re receptive to me because we share that in common.” Mykie said.

Mykie walked on the set already having a connection with her divine nine brothers and sisters and they’ve continued to rock with her, but the Howard Alum’s following largely derives from her pink and green sorority sister’s of Alpha Kappa Alpha. BET shared that this is the first time in 106 &Park history that the show switched hosts and the ratings did not drop.

Making her permanent move to New York City, Mykie will continue working on her recording career in the future but says it will take a back seat to her new priority as host.

Poised, humble and inspiring, Mykie is the ideal candidate and plans on using her new found prestigious platform to inspire the youth as she has always done.

“I was a teacher and so I am used to talking to my young students as a mentor. I want to add my motivation and encouraging words to the show by sending the message to work hard, live your dreams and keep your faith.”
