Solange talks babysitting Blue Ivy

Solange and her sister, Beyoncé, are like two peas in a pod when it comes their relationship. Besides doing normal sister stuff, they’ve written songs together, toured together and modeled together for the family’s House of Dereon fashion line. To put it simply— they’re always there for each other. So, it goes without saying that now that both sisters are mothers, they don’t at all mind sharing the work of taking care of each other’s kids.

In an interview with New York Magazine, Solange details her relationship with Beyoncé, saying that they became “super-duper close” after she became pregnant at 17, married her then-boyfriend Daniel Smith, and moved to Idaho with him.

Solange says that her sister became her rock and that is was Beyoncé who helped her during her painful divorce four years later.

“[It was a time] “when you really, really need your sister. Every time there was drama and I was all the way in Idaho, it was nice to be able to call,” said Solange, adding that the tables have now turned for the sisters. “Now it’s kind of a reversal, with her getting married and having a baby after me.”

Solange says that she and her sister, who live near each other in New York, see each other at least once a week now. And when it comes to their kids, Solange’s 8-year-old son, Julez, and Beyonce’s 9-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy, Solange says they each have no problem babysitting the other’s kid.

“Blue comes over, I babysit. [Beyoncé] takes Julez sometimes for the weekend,” said Solange. “[Blue] and Julez are going to grow up more like sister and brother than cousins.”

It sounds like Solange and Beyoncé have a great sibling bond and they’re a prime example of strong sibling bonds in the industry. Check out some other close celebrity siblings below. – nicholas robinson
