Jada Pinkett Smith has always maintained her free spirit when it comes to raising her and Will Smith’s three kids, Trey, Jaden and Willow, allowing them to express their own unique sense of self however they see fit. So it comes as no surprise that when Pinkett Smith now claims that she would support her kids no matter what sexuality they are.

The A-list actress touched upon the topic of sexuality during a recent interview with HuffPost Live, during which a fan asked her how she would feel if any of her kids ever came out as gay or bisexual.

“I would support them. For me, I just want my kids to be happy,” Pinkett Smith explained. “As long as they’re happy… As long as they’re living the lives that fulfill them, I’m good.”

When asked by HuffPost Live host Marc Lamont Hill, if she thinks that the younger generation of the black community is more accepting of LGBT life than the older black generation, Pinkett Smith responded that jury is still out on whether such progress has occurred. “I don’t know. I think we still have a long way to on that, to be honest with you,” claimed Pinkett Smith.

True, the black community, and society at large, may still have a long way to go when it comes to gender and sexual equality but parents like Pinkett Smith are proof that change is happening and that there’s even greater changes to come. Thankfully, she’s not alone. Check out some other parents who are accepting of having LGBT kids. – nicholas robinson
