Former No Limit Records rapper Cory “C-Murder” Miller is currently serving a life sentence at the Angola State Penitentiary in Louisiana. He has been there since he was convicted of 2nd degree murder in 2009 in the wake of a nightclub shooting.  Despite a mistrial and appeals, Miller’s conviction has been upheld. The embattled hip-hop star was granted a small bit of mercy this past weekend when he was allowed to attend the funeral of his grandmother.

Miller was photographed enjoying some time with many of his family members. His brothers, No Limit founder Master P and fellow artist Silkk the Shocker, have maintained contact with Miller during his incarceration, with Silkk (born Vyshonn Miller) being particularly outspoken in his belief that his brother is innocent. Nonetheless, everyone appeared to be happy to see C-Murder outside of prison walls–even if it was for a sad occasion and only for a few hours.

His famous nephew, rapper/actor/model Romeo, shared a photo of the family on Instagram.

“Being able to just sit & have a conversation w/my uncle @iamcmurder was a blessing. We gonna get you home Uncle C! Love ya #bestmoment #ripbigmamma,” Romeo wrote on his Instagram.

Check out a few more pics from the bittersweet reunion…
