Urban soul singer Al Chauncy

al chauncy

Al Chauncy discovered he was destined to be an artist at the early age of 11. The Raleigh, NC bred urban soul singer penned his first song to the Maxi single instrumental of Ice – T  “Original Gangster.” Growing up in the church, as many southerners reference it, Chauncy learned three-part harmonies when he sang in the MLK All-Children’s Choir at his church. A storyteller, his style can be likened to rapper Notorious BIG. Along his rise, he had the opportunity, as a member of the six-member rap group, Bloodline, he had the opportunity to work with Fugees producer/engineer Joe “The butcher” Nicolo in Philadelphia.

Having claimed the title Best Rap Artist in the 2009 North Carolina Underground Music Awards, he realized he was on to something bigger. He left the North Carolina and headed further south, taking his nickname The Carolina Mayor with him.

Under the guidance of producer Chriss Traxx Rogers (Cee-Lo Green, Pussy Cat Dolls), Chauncy is enjoying his new home and is prepped to take his career to higher heights. He’s the first artist signed to Chris Traxx Rogers Label/Production imprint Area 51 Music Group LLC. and working on his debut album entitled Late For Church.

Role Models
My role model and influence in my industry would be Will Smith. He followed his heart to be an entertainer in the midst of having a scholarship to MIT. His life would have been a different journey if he had chosen to go to college. I also had to make a big decision of my own of choosing my music career over football. I also admire Will’s business sense and his family values.

My ultimate role model is my father Gerald “Jerry” Williams Sr. He taught me hard work, passion for life, faith in God, and my music. He was a jazz trained pianist who traveled with Duke Ellington, played behind Jackie Wilson, graced Vaudeville, “The Ed Sullivan Show,” Julliard School of Arts, and Madison Square Garden. He gave all this up for his family and I honor him every chance I get on stage for that sacrifice. He died July 3, 1996 of lymphoma cancer and lives on through me.

Recommended books
One of the books that changed my view of life and motivated me was Michael Jordan’s Driven From Within. It showed me that determination and vision can take you far and and also the people God puts around you who help get you there.

A second is Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch, which also changed my life and outlook on whom I’ve become as an person.

A third is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It’s an adventure of self-realization and embracing the God in you.

Affirmations I repeat to myself
After every prayer I make a statement to the Universe say “God show me how great you are” and since I’ve implemented that mantra at the end of my prayers, every one them have been answered.

Role of technology in your life
Social media has played a key factor in my success as far as technology. I am able to reach my fans from under my fingertips. I post shows and information on all my social sites and I am able to reach new and current fans via www.alchauncy.com , reverbnation, Facebook, and Twitter.

Software and App and other innovations that you utilize
I would say the Twitter app is by far the most used app by me and reaches more fans quicker than other apps I use.

Define My Personal Brand
The Al Chauncy brand is known for being magnificent. I am a new urban soul singer, with an R&B undertone; it is Soul singing with modern day production. My Brand is Soul and creativity… I am a creative artist who paints pictures with words… who conveys secular messages in my music to common, day-to-day people. I’ve been called the peoples champ by many!  This would best explain my brand.

What is your favorite vacation destination?
I truly do not have a favorite vacation destination spot yet. Let me tour the world first and I will surely answer that question in the near future. There are a lot of place I would like to go…

Changing the world
One thing I would change in the world is the socialism and the lack of togetherness as human beings.
