On Saturday, September 28, at 11:30 a.m. parents and protestors who support special needs children, will picket outside the Chuck E. Cheese located at 2990 Cumberland Boulevard, Atlanta, Ga. 30339. Parents and organizations will be protesting in support of the family of 9-year-old Marley Eschoe, who was attending another child’s birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese in May when her father, Mark Eschoe, who brought Marley to the party was not allowed to take her into the only available restroom. Marley, who suffers from lupus, had been recently released from a 3-month stay in the hospital after suffering her second stroke in 8 months, needed assistance walking and going to the restroom. Her father, Mark Eschoe, was denied access to an empty female restroom and told he would have to take his then 8-year-old daughter to the men’s restroom regardless of it being overcrowded. Mr. Eschoe even requested that a Chuck E. Cheese female employee who was exiting the restroom stand by the door while he took his daughter into an empty female restroom. That request was also denied by Chuck E Cheese management. Mr. Eschoe informed Chuck E. Cheese management about Marley’s medical condition and asked for assistance. Management’s response was “I don’t care if she has special needs, I’m not going to treat her any differently from my other patron. I’m done with you.” Then, she abruptly walked away after threatening to call the police to have him removed. Marley and Mark’s story has been featured in the national publication, Jet magazine.

“I am father who is there for my children and to see the callous and insensitive way Chuck E. Cheese treated my baby and I is disturbing” On Saturday, we want parents to bring their kids so we can show this corporation that special needs kids matter too, that Marley matters too.”- stated Mark Eschoe, Marley’s father.

Parents and protestors have been given permission to gather at the McDonald’s located at 2591 Spring Rd, Smyrna Ga. The parents and protestors will march from McDonalds to Chuck E. Cheese where they will picket in front on a public sidewalk.
