Home-Going Celebration for Mrs. Evelyn G. Lowery

Celebration begins promptly at 11:00a.m.


Lowery was the wife of Civil Rights activist Rev. Joseph E. Lowery and founder of S.C.L.C./Women, Inc., the sister organization of the historic Civil Rights organization the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (S.C.L.C.), the creator of the annual Drum Major of Justice Awards that takes place annually in April in Atlanta, GA and the creator of the annual Evelyn G. Lowery Civil Rights Heritage Educational Tour. Having suffered a massive stroke over a week ago, Lowery made her transition in the early hours of Thursday, September 26 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family and her husband of close to 70 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations may be payable to either:
