Marvell Weaver was shot twice and sentenced to jail after playing the “knockout” game. According to a report by WILX 10, Weaver, 17, attempted to knockout a man who was waiting for his six-year-old daughter.
Weaver, of Lansing, Michigan and his friends circled the man twice while riding in a van. After seeing that the man was alone, Weaver jumped out of the van as his friends watched. But instead of attempting to punch the man, Weaver tried to taser the man. However, the taser didn’t work.
The man was carrying a .40 caliber gun and shot Weaver twice. One bullet hit Webster in the leg while the other bullet was an inch away from his spine. Weaver was able to make a full recovery, but he was also arrested for the incident.
The “knockout” game has gained prominence due to viral online videos. When playing the game, teens from across the country walk up to innocent individuals and sucker punch them for fun.
Weaver admitted to playing the “knockout” game on other occasions. He said that he and his friends would play the game when they were bored.
Police across the nation are monitoring the situation closely. Weaver will serve one year in prison.
