Rapper Lil Wayne, 31, has fallen victim to another Internet death hoax.

A bogus video titled “RIP Lil Wayne, Rapper Found Dead” began making its way around Facebook and other social media sites on Monday, Dec. 16, claiming that he died after suffering a seizure. The video requires viewers to share it on Facebook before they can watch it, which experts are saying is known to have been used in the past as a template by hackers to cause computer viruses and steal personal information.

Weezy fell victim to an Internet death hoax earlier this year after being in and out of the hospital after suffering multiple seizures. He later explained his health issues during an interview on Power 106.

“The bad news is I’m an epileptic,” Wayne said. “I’m prone to seizures. This isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizures. I’ve had a bunch of seizures, y’all just never hear about them. But this time it got real bad ’cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 percent. Basically, I could’ve died, so that is why it was so serious.”

It’s a shame that hackers and other ignorant people can sit around and come up with heartless pranks, especially when children are involved.
