When it comes to the celebrity world, usually the topic of plastic surgery and the desire to stay young and beautiful pertains to people like actors, reality stars and music artists. But even for someone like first lady Michelle Obama, who is certainly a star in her own right, the idea of going under the needle or under the knife is something that can’t so easily be shrugged off. And in a new interview with People, Obama reveals that she thinks plastic surgery and botox are a right that all women should feel free to consider.

“Women should have the freedom to do whatever they need to do to feel good about themselves,” the first lady told People magazine in an interview hitting newsstands Friday, her 50th birthday.

Although Obama says that she’s not exactly sold on the idea of having anything done herself, she’s not ruling out the idea that one day she may want to have some cosmetic procedures done to keep her youth.

“Right now, I don’t imagine that I would go that route, but I’ve also learned to never say never,” she said.

For now, Obama says that she’s focused on simply maintaining her health, which she says should be the focus of every woman in the world.

“I don’t obsess about what I eat but I do make sure that I’m eating vegetables and fruit. As everyone knows, I do exercise,” she said, adding that she is “more self-assured now. Each decade just brings a greater sense of calm and certainty and maturity and confidence.”

Well, we’ve no doubt that Obama health is of the utmost concern to her and we’ve also no doubt that, regardless of whether or not she decides to have any work done to her, she’ll always exemplify a healthy standard of true beauty.
