UNCF An Evening of Stars moves to Atlanta

Actor-comedian Anthony Anderson returns to host the 35th Annual UNCF An Evening of Stars for the second consecutive year. This year’s taping on Sunday, April 6, 2014 will be held at it’s new home, Atlanta, specifically The Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center.

Grammy Award-winning artists Jill Scott, the Isley Brothers and Tye Tribbett are joined by Alice Smith, Sevyn Streeter, August Alsina and Spoken Reasons on the performance lineup.

UNCF President and CEO, Dr. Michael L. Lomax, was pleased to announce the return of Anderson and the show’s new location. “There is no better home for this iconic evening of entertainment than Atlanta,” Lomax said in a statement to press. “I want to personally thank Anthony and encourage all Atlantans to join us for the incredible show planned to raise much needed funds to invest in better futures for young people across the country.”

Atlanta has been the cradle of African American education, and is known as the center of African American business and entertainment for more than a century. Atlanta and Augusta, Ga. are a major hub of UNCF’s work as four of the organization’s member colleges and universities are in Atlanta, and one in Augusta. UNCF awards more than 700 scholarships worth over $6.8 million to students in Atlanta, who attend both HBCU’s and other institutions including Georgia State University, Emory University and Georgia Tech.
