Officers in trouble for taking pictures with 50 Cent

There’s something to be said for maintaining professionalism in the workplace — even when a rap star is in your presence.

It seems three Palm Beach County, Florida, sheriff’s deputies could use a refresher course in professionalism as they have been disciplined for taking pictures with 50 Cent while on duty.

The G-Unit boss was in Florida to face a lawsuit brought against him by Sleek Audio. The headphone company alleges that 50 stole its product design and private client information for use with his SMS Audio company. Even though he took an “L” and was ordered to pay $16 million, 50 was all smiles while leaving the courtroom as he stopped to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.

Sergeant Craig Laufer and deputies Pamela Gibbs and Yvane Moreland were among the fans flanking 50 as he made his way to a car awaiting him. It just so happens that local newspaper, the Palm Beach Post, was on the scene to capture video of Laufer, who was on duty at the time, posing for a picture with 50. Meanwhile, Gibbs and Moreland can be seen casually strolling down a corridor on each side of 50 laughing and joking with their arms around his waist.

The offending officers were the recipients of “verbal counseling” for showing “a poor perspective and lack of neutrality” and also “neglecting their assigned duties.”
