Supermodel and actress Beverly Johnson first made history in August of 1974 when she rose to fame becoming the first African American model to appear on the cover of American Vogue. With a strong followup in 1975, being the first Black woman to appear on the cover of the French edition of Elle, then going on to appear in a slew of films and TV shows, Johnson is the perfect example of someone finding longevity in fashion and entertainment. Back into the limelight as the latest of Bill Cosby’s accusers, we couldn’t help but to think about the good times and Beverly Johnson in her prime.
