A Black man in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, said he was insulted after an employee at a bar wrote a racial slur on his receipt. According to reports  by Pennlive.com, Marquis Moore ordered food while watching football at Zembie’s Sports Tavern.

Once he received the receipt from a white female bartender, Megan Bonsall, he noticed the N-word scribbled on it. Moore said he was shocked and appalled by the bartender’s actions.

However, the bar’s owner, Angelo Karagiannis, defended Bonsall’s actions and says the incident was not intended to be racist. Karagiannis claims the bartender was asking for Moore’s name and his friend showed her his Facebook page.

On one of the Facebook pictures, Moore referred to himself as “sexy n—.” Bonsall thought it would be funny to write the N-word on Moore’s receipt.

Moore doesn’t believe it was a joke and said Bonsall would have written the entire phrase if she was really attempting to be funny. But Bonsall only wrote the N-word on the receipt. Moore says he didn’t know Bonsall and believes she used the Facebook post as an excuse.

The owner of Zembie’s claims that his bar isn’t racist because they serve 12-15 black people every weekend during football season.

Moore has not disclosed whether he will file a lawsuit against the restaurant.
