Stuart Scott, ESPN sportscaster, dies at 49

ESPN Sportscaster Stuart Scott dead at 49

Stuart Scott, the face of ESPN “SportsCenter “ died after a long struggle with cancer. He was 49 years old. The beloved sports anchor and father loved life and refused to let his diagnose and battle with cancer destroy him. Instead, he embraced life to its fullest with what time he had remaining.

Scott said of his cancer, “When you die, that does not mean you lose to cancer…You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live. So live, live, fight like hell. And when you get too tired, lay down, rest and let someone else fight for you. This whole fight, this journey, is not a solo venture. This is something that requires support.”

Scott was well known for his humor and catchphrases during NFL and NBA games such as “Boo-Yah” … “He’s as cool as the other side of the pillow” … “He must be butter because he’s on a roll” … and “See, what had happened was …”

Scott was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2007 and remained resilient in his physical regime as stated in a social media post:

“Here’s what I do right (after) chemo. Leave the infusion center & go STRAIGHT 2 either do a p90x workout or train MMA..THATS how you #LIVESTRONG.”

Stuart Scott lived strong as a sports journalist, man and father until the very end. His presence will be sorely missed in the world of sports.
