Toddler in faux locs sparks Twitter debate

Is she too young? On Friday, April 17, a string of images featuring a toddler in faux locs hit the Internet, sparking a debate on Twitter. And although the appropriate styling of a little Black girl’s hair seems to always be up for debate, social media seemed to both like and dislike this style.

“Your child looks cute & the faux locs look FLAWLESS but … She looks a bit young for you to be putting that on her head,” commented @_jussKENNIESE.

“B—- her head hurt…????” wrote another user.

And while we think the style is absolutely adorable, we’re in agreement with the naysayers. Not only are the faux locs too heavy for a baby but depending on the child’s age, his or her fontanel could be open well into a baby’s second year. In addition, instead of teaching the young child to embrace her natural hair they opted to use weave.

What do you think of Twitter user @_jussKENNIESE’s decision to give this little girl locs: Is it suitable for a toddler or too much?
