On Saturday, June 27, 2015 the Donk Ryde or Die “Pull Up or Shut Up” Car & Bike Show and Concert will take over the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, Georgia and is touted as an an event to unite, network and bring together car enthusiasts from various parts of United States.

Organizer Lateasa Barnes promises that at this showcase enthusiasts, spectators and participants will be educated and have an experience they’ve never had before in a car show setting.

“Donk Ryde or Die, in short DROD, is a community that embraces big rims, kandy paint, trunk rattling bass and growling motors,” explains Barnes. “We have established a major following throughout the world. Surprisingly, it’s a culture that has not been embraced by fellow car enthusiasts. We don’t have the support that Camaros, Chevelles or other brands that were popular in ’60s and’ 70s have. Those are the cars our parents drove while growing up. Our cars are featured in the various rap and R&B videos. Based on custom features — paint, rims, interior, music and the muscle under the hood — our cars stand out among the rest. It’s what you will find on a classic Chevelle and Camaro but ours has a little more finesse.”

Barnes became fascinated with cars when she was a child. “I am the only girl, so I did what my brothers did. My big brother just so happens to be a very big car enthusiast as well. He taught me most of the ropes when it came to cars.”

Will you showcase your own car(s) in the show?

I’m looking to purchase a show car very soon, however my partners will participate in this event.

Are you putting on this event alone or do you have partners? If so, who are they?

Yes, I have partners, Ivious Barnes and Rondall Barnes along with various members of the DROD community that volunteered their services.

What do you hope attendees will gain from this event?

This is the inaugural event and will be a first of many for the Donk Ryde or Die community. First stop is Atlanta. There will be more to follow in various cities throughout the United States. We are a growing community.
