Jelisa “Lisa” Raquel Cook will tell you she’s a blogger, writer, publicist and media personality but what she fails to mention is she is actually a serial entrepreneur. The graduate of Jacksonville State University who earned her bachelor’s in mass communications and English is the producer of Greeks Who Brunch among other things. Read what she has to say.

What is the name of your company?
Broadcasting Beauty PR & Blog

What is your company’s mission?
To expose, expand, and empower all things beautiful with Broadcasting Beauty PR. The ultimate goal is to create a community off and online for publicists, business owners, and media outlets to connect with each other, learn from each other, and conduct great business. I shine light on small-business owners.Greek Event Flyer(F) (1)

Why did you decide to produce The Greek Brunch?
I decided to produce “The Greek Brunch” because I wanted to create a sense of unity through business. There are so many successful black business owners who aren’t connected. I wanted to do an exclusive Greek brunch for business professionals. The Divine Nine only makes headlines when someone has broken the law, [when] hazing [incidents occur], or [when someone does] something not appealing to the public eye. I wanted to shine light on our successful Greek professionals who have paved the way and opened doors for many other Greek and non Greek entrepreneurs to prosper.

What do you hope attendees will walk away with?
I hope attendees will walk away inspired, fulfilled, and ready to connect and do business with others within the D9 and outside of their organizations regardless. Money is only one color and that’s green, division stops where business begins. I also want my attendees to leave with plenty of contacts!

What is your background?
My background is broadcast journalism, and public relations. I have a heavy background in writing, I had my first article published in the fifth grade. I was raised in a great environment and as a child my mom read to me every night, which ultimately led to me loving to read. I always excelled in book clubs, reading, and writing. I’m from Newnan, Georgia, a small town on the outskirts of Atlanta. I was very active in school; cheer leading, basketball, track and pageants. I joined Sigma Gamma Rho through the Mu Xi chapter in 2008. The sorority helped me gain essential tools that ultimately helped shape my career. I was the epistoleus and vice president of my chapter. I helped brand, and expand our numbers significantly thorough innovative marketing and passion.

Why is it important for you to be a connector?
It’s important for me to be a connector because I believe God placed this as my purpose in life. I love inspiring people through my journey alone. I love to share my knowledge, experiences and thoughts with others. My purpose is to show others that you don’t have to be an employee, you can live your dream.

Share your purpose.
My purpose is to inspire others to chase their dreams without fearing failure. I want to show others through fellowship, networking, and building relationships that you can achieve whatever goals you set for yourself. Your “network is ultimately your net worth.”

The spring Greeks Who Brunch in Atlanta series will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2015, from noon to 3 p.m.
