Actors Sanaa Lathan and Michael Ealy are still making promotional rounds to get the word out about their upcoming thriller The Perfect Guy before the film’s Sept. 11 release. On Saturday, Aug. 29, the co-stars were honored by The Hollywood Confidential at The Montalban Theater in Hollywood with awards for their contribution to the entertainment industry.
Lathan and Ealy took pictures together on the event’s red carpet and even answered some questions for Black Hollywood Live. When asked whether paying on the first day is still something the ‘perfect guy’ would do, Lathan replied “absolutely!”
Ealy then interjected, “There’s certain traditions and customs that I feel should still be in place. That is one of them. That is standard.”
The co-stars met for a panel inside the theater with the host of the evening, Steve Jones of Brand Maverick Entertainment. He sat with the stars onstage and asked a few questions about their anticipated new film.
The Perfect Guy, directed by David M. Rosenthal, follows the relationship drama of successful lobbyist Leah Vaughn, played by Lathan. She begins to date a mysterious IT expert, Carter, played by Ealy. She discovers a violent side of him and ends the relationship, but a jealous and dangerous Carter won’t let her get away that easily, and turns her life upside-down.
