Many city leaders attended Tyshawn Lee‘s funeral on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Father Pfleger’s church, St. Sabina in Chicago.  Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, politicians, Noah Joakim’s organization, actor Nick Canon and others were present to bid farewell to the 9-year-oldTyshawn‘s former teacher, Tony Taylor, spoke as did the principal of Scott Joplin Elementary School.

The building was packed to capacity and there was standing room only. His mom sat in the front of the church and it was reported the dad came and sat in the back with a group of people he brought. Police were everywhere to ensure no violence occurred on the premises. The killing was allegedly the result of a gang war.

Tyshawn’s grandma spoke the longest during the funeral. Her desire was that people clean up their lives and accept Jesus. She even spoke outside the funeral as Tyshawn’s red casket was placed into a carriage attached to a motorcycle.
