Tracy Morgan has much to be thankful for this year.

The comedian suffered a traumatic brain injury after a limo bus he was riding in crashed on the New Jersey Turnpike in June 2014. The accident, which involved six vehicles including two tractor trailers and an SUV, left Morgan and his assistant, Jeffrey Millea, in critical condition. Morgan’s close friend, James McNair, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene.

However, it’s safe to say that the “30 Rock” star has come a long way since the horrific accident. The former “Saturday Night Live” star recently got married and welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Maven, into the fold. Now, in his latest interview with Complex magazine, the 47-year-old opens up about his road to recovery and why he’s taking things day by day.

“You’re never going to be normal after you go through something like that,” he began by saying. “You don’t die for a few weeks and then come back to normal, trust me. Something’s going to be missing, something’s going to be gained — you just got to live your life after that.”

He added, “But after surviving something like that, I’m probably never going to feel normal. I went to the other side. This is not something I’m making up. Do you know what God said to me? He said, ‘Your room ain’t ready. I still got something for you to do.’ And here I am, doing an interview with you.”

And when asked about his plans for the future, Morgan explained why he simply takes life one day at a time, “I try not to do that. Just living my life, man. When the sun’s up, I try to get it on and poppin’. When the sun is up, I try to make it happen. That’s what I’m doing, whatever it is! I’m going to do it until I’m satisfied.”

But one thing’s for sure, Morgan will be hitting the road again soon. Just last month, after his long awaited return to “SNL,” he announced he’ll be “Picking up the pieces. Heading back out on the road to bring the funny,” Morgan shared on his Twitter. “Come see me.”
