Chicago Police Department have gotten away with murder. According to WGN, Cook County D.A. Anita Alvarez will not file charges against Officer George Hernandez.

In October 2014, Ronald Johnson III was riding in a car where the window was reportedly shot out by an unidentified gunmen. Officers reported that Johnson ran from the scene after being pulled over by police. A police dash-cam video shows Officer Hernandez jumping out his car and firing at Johnson as he ran away.

Johnson was shot five times and the fatal bullet entered his shoulder and exited out of his right eye socket. Police claim that Johnson had a gun, but Johnson’s lawyer says that there isn’t proof of that in the video. Johnson is out of the view of the dash-cam when he falls and is approached by police.

The video was concealed for over one year. But since McDonald’s murder, Mayor Emanuel has decided to release the video.

Anita Alvarez says the biggest difference between McDonald and Johnson was that Johnson had a gun. But if he was fleeing the scene, he didn’t pose as a threat at the time.

The CPD will be investigated by the Department of Justice.
