The anticipation is at an all-time high for Drake and his forthcoming album Views From the 6. Members of Drake’s OVO camp used social media to let the world know the album is on the way with subtle hints. Drake’s longtime producer Noah “40” Shebib recently posted a message on Instagram this weekend, in the form of a cryptic photo of a file named simply, “Views”:

Another producer from Drake’s camp also co-signed the arrival of the album with a mysterious tweet of his own:

What’s the big fuss about this Drake album, anyway? I mean, it’s just one of the many albums that will be released in 2016, right? Wrong. This latest album is anticipated to not only set the hip-hop, Rap and R&B tone for 2016 but also shatter record sales and tour economies of scale currently in place. That’s right … all three genres: Hip-hop, rap and R&B.

The Canadian rapper has already earned a Grammy Award, three Juno awards, six BET awards and several significant Billboard charts records. He has the most No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart with 12 and Hot R&B / Hip-Hop songs with 10. He is also one of two artists (the other being 50 cent) to have simultaneously occupied the chart’s top three positions. That’s right… the top three positions.

Let’s also not forget that in promotion of his second album, Drake embarked on the worldwide Club Paradise Tour, which became the most successful hip-hop tour of 2012, grossing over $42 million. That’s right … $42M after dropping one album.

Drake also recently ended the rap career of once-famous Philly rapper Meek Mill with the song “Back to Back,” which as a single sold 250,000 copies) and dropped two mixtapes “If You Are Reading This It’s Too Late” and “What a Time to Be Alive” (selling 2.5 million copies combined).

So yes, Drake dropping this latest album is a big deal.
