It doesn’t matter if you are a Panthers or Broncos fan; the most important thing to remember is how to enjoy Super Bowl 50 with your special someone. With that being said, your mate may have no interest in the teams that are playing or even the sport of football. However, when you are in a relationship it is very important to take your mate’s interest(s) into consideration. Right? Take me (for example), I’m not a big football fan, but at least I can sit and watch a game without looking like a deer in headlights. I also enjoy the commercials, the great food and, of course, the half-time show.

Well, enough about me, let’s talk about some things that will help you to make a big impression on your special someone, while enjoying Super Bowl 50.

  1. Know the basics – Read up on the basics of football and the teams that are playing. (FYI – Carolina Panthers vs. Denver Broncos). Take some time out to become familiar with some common football terminology, for example: fumble, touchdown, field goal, blitz, line of scrimmage, etc. Throw out a few of the terms during the game, (obviously, at the right time) and even ask your special someone to explain some additional terms to you (hint, hint — not during the game, of course). He or she will appreciate your interest and you’ll get some brownie points as well.
  2. Team spirit. Show some team spirit, but please make sure that it’s for the right team.
  3. No distractions. On this one day out of the year, please don’t ask questions during the game — unless you are asking him or her if they’d like some more food or drinks.
  4. A wager. Why not make this event more interesting by wagering a friendly bet? Create a fun and sexy payout and everybody wins.
  5. Great food. Make sure you prepare some delectable appetizers and finger foods for your special someone and guests. If you need some recipe ideas, please pick up a copy of my book and refer to Fantasy 9 (Friends & Football).
  6. Invite other couples. Make this event even more special by inviting some couples over to partake in this sporting extravaganza.
  7. Great commercials. Even if you don’t enjoy football, keep yourself entertained until the next round of hilarious and original commercials (which some refer to as the best part of the Super Bowl). It will give you a lot to talk about at work the next day.

Keep in mind that spending quality time together is a crucial element in keeping your relationship alive (even by watching football). You both feel happy when you are with the person that you care about and it gives you energy to cope with day-to-day stress. Have fun and may the best team win!
