Dr. Jackie of Bravo TV’s “Married to Medicine” recently stopped by the rolling out studios in Atlanta and had some fun with the dating game Pick or Pay. She offered up her number one dating rule as well as some tips on how women should be selective when picking a partner or paying for it later. Read below to hear what she had to say on picking now, or paying for it later.

Dr. Jackie: “This is Dr. Jackie, and today we’re talking about picking or paying. Guess what? Pick a partner or pay for it later.

“If you are one of those ladies who don’t follow my rule, and my rule is “don’t spend your present time with anyone you can’t see in your future,” but if you want to be risky, and you want to take chances, you gotta pick or pay. Pick what? Be selective. Don’t spend your night with somebody you would be embarrassed to introduce to your friends and your family. I mean, come on. We’re too mature now for a good time. However, if you choose to do that I need you to pick up a box of condoms and a take-home HIV test. Very simple, not expensive. You swab, he swabs. You wait, and see what the results are.

“Guess what else? If you’re going to pick this guy and you’re saying this is the man of your dreams, let’s pick up a background check. You really need to know who you’re spending your time with, it’s very simple. I think you give them a name and a telephone number. Now you don’t have to tell them anything, just give them a name and they can find you. You can google, you can background check anybody. You’ve got PI’s who will tell you who’s the mother, of the mother of the mother. So, make sure you pick up a background check if you’re spending the rest of your life with this person.

“Also, please pick up birth control. If you are not trying o get pregnant, please, condoms, please cover what I call the one-eyed monster cause it will get you! Use condoms if you do not know who you are spending your time with.

“The other thing,  if you don’t pick, you’re going to pay. Whether you pay for it with your life, whether you pay for it with an unplanned pregnancy or whether you pay for it with an STD that you can’t get rid of, you will pay.

“Pick or pay. It’s simple. Pick your partner or pay for it later.”
