Nathanial Black is destined to become Atlanta’s next top model. The budding talent is creating quite the name for himself with his diverse portfolio of editorial spreads. Since he was 11 years old, Black has had his eyes set on the fashion industry and gracing the runway. Years later, his childhood dreams have become reality. He recently spoke with with us on his developing career, how he uses social media to grow his brand and dishes on some of his favorite boutique locations to shop at for men’s clothing.

What steps do you plan to take to further your career as a model?

I plan on getting more training and continue working so I can build up my portfolio. I have been working with a lot of photographers and taking classes plus attending seminars as well.

How do you use social media networks to engage with your followers online?
I constantly put out different types of posts. It could be anything from motivational quotes or asking questions to get their feedback. I post pictures of outfits to find out what their favorites are. Things like that really get them involved and they start liking what I have going on.

What do you do to maintain your physique?
I work out three times a week. I constantly look over my diet to make sure that what I am eating is clean and easy to burn off. I always look into organic spices for alternatives because all that helps on top of seeing what’s out in the market. As far as fashion, I am always looking on social media to see what the new trend is. I try to stay updated with everything that’s going on.

What type of fashion do you like to wear when modeling?
What I am wearing right now is one of my favorites, but I am also a really big suit guy. I love the dress jackets with the oxfords and dress socks. I like all of that as well. I like that real clean American gangster type of outfit.

Are there any current collections from NYFW that you want to incorporate into your wardrobe?
The style that I am really into is the moto pants. I also really like the ripped style. A lot of Kanye West clothes are pretty cool too. It’s like a real old school street style brought into the new millennium.

Where are some good shops for men to find exclusive pieces?
I really like to shop at PacSun. They have the clothes that aren’t on all the racks. I like to shop at Macy’s because they have a lot of different ties. JCPenney’s is really big for the slim fit dress shirts. Those are the places I like to go to to get me some different looks that not everybody has.
