In 2006, Claire Sulmers, the brains behind Fashion Bomb Daily, founded the “daily destination for the multicultural fashionista.” From celebrity style to street style to fresh, engaging content from an informed point of view, she does it all.

Did we mention the influencer has racked up a long list of accolades? Not only was Sulmers dubbed Black Blogger of the Month by Black Enterprise, Blogger of the Moment by Teen Vogue, and Blogger of the Year at the Style Blogger of Color Awards, but she also made Ebony magazine’s 2011 Power 100 List. Not to mention, Fashion Bomb Daily has been referenced in New York Magazine, featured in Glamour, and quoted in Time.

Now, the authority on fashion and beauty has landed a new partnership with Dark and Lovely. Known for her bold blonde coif, Sulmers is urging fans to celebrate their Dark and Lovely with the #LoveMyColor campaign, “putting women of color on the forefront.”

Recently, rolling out had the opportunity to catch up with Sulmers, who gushed about the campaign, her evolving brand, and the must-have colors of the season. Check it out below.

Tell us how you came to partner with Dark and Lovely.
Our relationship kicked off at Black Girls Rock!, it was such an inspirational night being surrounded by so many beautiful Black women from all walks of life. It was truly a representation of what we [Fashion Bomb Daily and Dark and Lovely] stand for: highlighting and celebrating women of color, no matter their industry.

I’m known for my blonde locks and how I style them — so, this marriage, the #LoveMYColor campaign, celebrating the multidimensional beauty of Black women, from their hair color and texture to their skin tone and beyond made sense.

I think it’s perfectly timed for spring. Women like to change it up. They can go lighter or maybe they’ll add a few highlights using Dark and Lovely’s Fade Resist Rich Conditioning Color. The campaign encourages women to be bold, make a change, stand out in the crowd and rep their Black girl magic. So, this is a really exciting campaign and I’m proud to be a part of it.

What are the colors of the season?
I’m always one for monotone, a good white moment, cobalt blue, cherry red, and purple. Purple always pops on brown skin.

Of course, if someone is hesitant to rock color head to toe, I always say you can never go wrong with a new ‘do or accessories. I also love a bold lip color. My go-to outfit when I’m not at an event is to wear no make-up at all, a pair of sunnies, and a bold lippie.

What tips would you give those women who are hesitant to switch it up?
Color is a way of showing our personality, so there was no hesitation for me to show off My Dark and Lovely! However, if someone is unsure about switching up their shade, they can experiment with color in other ways, like a fun scarf, sunglasses, or subtle makeup.

How can readers participate?
Fans can visit LoveMyColor.com and upload a picture of themselves, telling us how they describe their color: is it vibrant, easy breezy, or just bomb? My color is bombshell blonde. They can also upload to Instagram. Just tag @FashionBombDaily and @Official_DarkandLovely and we will feature a selection of entries on our Instagram, as well as FashionBombDaily.com.

One of the great things about Fashion Bomb Daily is our Fashion Bombshell of the Day. Women from all around the world submit their best look and readers are able to give their critique. The everyday girl wants to see herself next to the celebrity, so I’m really excited to see all the entries and how people respond.

Up next?
Now that we’ve transitioned into an online magazine, Fashion Bomb Daily is continuing to expand. We have a great event series coming up, called Cocktails with Claire, which will begin touring in July. We’re also expanding into radio, publications, philanthropy, and creating tangible products people can reach out and touch.
