Toyota continues to impress with the 2016 Toyota Prius Hybrid. They recently handed us the keys to the new edition and we discovered why the Prius takes Hybrid to a new level. Hybrid cars have only been in America for roughly 16 years, but its popularity continues to grow.

The 2016 Prius comes with a 2ZR-FXE 1.8-liter engine that achieves 40 percent-plus thermal efficiency allowing for a more quite ride. But one of the main reasons why Hybrids are so cool today is its great fuel economy. The 2016 Prius Hybrid achieves 58 mpg city and 53 highway. During our review, we drove the city of Atlanta for seven days without needing to make one stop to refuel.

The Prius also gets a high grade in technology and sound. It features the Entune Multimedia Bundle which comes with 6.1-inch touch-screen display, six speakers, iPod connectivity and control, voice recognition, and hands-free phone capability. The Entune App suite features Pandora, Facebook Places, Yelp, and iHeartRadio to name a few.

When it comes to safety, the Prius features Pre-Collision System and Pedestrian Detection; Lane departure Alert with Steering Assist; and Automatic High-beam. The supplemental restraint system comes with dual-stage front airbags; a driver SRS knee airbag, and seat cushion airbag.

Overall, the Prius maintains its lead by doing what does best—and that’s being the most fuel efficient vehicle on the road.
