Kim Tumey, CEO of Kim Tumey Entertainment, embarks on her second annual Celebrity Track Meet on June 25, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at Emory University, 26 Eagle Row, Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta. This event will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation Georgia.

Why did you start Celebrity Track Meet?
To be honest, it’s hard to find celebrities who appreciate good people on their team. Yes, I love what I do, but it’s not who I am. I work hard, love hard and when I’m in, I’m all in. So, after 10 years in the entertainment business and making others mad money, one day I prayed to God and shared my concerns. I told God I loved working with celebrities; however, I wanted to give back and if he could show me a way to do both I would. That night, I went to sleep, woke up the next morning with the God-given idea Celebrity Track Meet.

Why did you decide on Make-A-Wish as the charity to support?
When I started my business, a complete stranger gave me my start. So, how could I not think of or consider the Make-A-Wish Foundation? God has shown me you don’t have to wait for wishes, one just has to ask … So, I’m just doing my part. Regardless, if we help one person or a million, the Celebrity Track Meet mission will be accomplished.

Who are some of the celebrities that will be participants this year?
Erika Bierman (Hunger Games), Brandon Spink (Mother’s Day, NBC’s “Game of Silence”, “Miracles from Heaven”, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Joe Smith (LA Lakers), Marcus Banks (Miami Heat, Celtics), Egypt Sherrod (HGTV’s “Property Virgins”), God Shammgod (Former NBA Washington Wizards; assistant coach at Providence), Tiffney Cambridge (author, star of “Marrying The Game”), Ms. Juicy (Rickey Smiley Morning Show radio personality, “Little Women Atlanta”), (Miykal Snoddy (super music producer for Neyo, Drake), Matt Jordan (“Real Housewives of Atlanta”), Patrick Faucette (OWN TV/Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and the Have Nots”; Tupac’s All Eyes on Me), Cali Dream (daughter of rap artist The Game), Paul Becker (star choreographer, director of Pan AM Games), Trinitee Stokes (Disney’s “K.C. Undercover”), Carla Stephens (BRAVO), Brian; Tara Lewis, Gil Tyree (sports commentator) and many more to come. So, stay tuned.

Tell us about how building and fostering relationships has been a key factor to your success.
I’m really good at this. These days all I hear is, “Kim, girl, you’re rare!” Something as simple as picking up the phone or checking on people just because has become a thing of the past, not mine. All I have is me and if I can’t give my best, there is no need to move forward.

Finish this sentence: Being able to multi-task has allowed me to …
Fulfill all of my dreams and desires.

What has been the motivating factor that’s contributed to your success?
The word “no.” The fact that family and friends thought age was a factor in success and I didn’t deserve nothing more than a 9-to-5. All I can say is thank God at 37, I listened to a complete stranger by the name of Kelsey Scott aka actress, screenwriter and now friend. Thanks Kel, love ya!

What is the mission of your company?
To encourage and bless one person at a time.

What are two key factors for business success?
Communication and solid relationships.

Name your three favorite business books for insight and inspiration.
My one and only business book is the Bible and the best business practice is handling God’s business by tithing.

Give us an idea of what the Celebrity Track Meet will bring in 2016?
Live performances, DJ Nephu, a band and dance team from Ohio, a dance team from Indiana, vendors, food, drinks, VIP tent, clowns, face painters and more.
