John Legend is the epitome of a doting dad.

On Saturday, Aug. 27, the R&B crooner appeared in the Big Apple — ahead of the launch of his Belvedere(RED) campaign — where he revealed he’s “always wanted to give back but [being a father] just gives you even more reason to want the world to be a better place because you want the world to be better for your kids than it was for you,” reports People.

He continued, “I think it’s been great for me but if we can make it even better for Luna that’d be great.”

“It’s just so much love, you feel that connection with your wife and with your daughter, and I think it’s a powerful thing to start building a family,” the 37-year-old said of fatherhood. “And I love that feeling,” he added.

Legend and his wifey Chrissy Teigen, 30, welcomed daughter Luna, their first child together, in April. While he’s been busy promoting his highly anticipated rom com, Southside With You, documenting future U.S. President Barack Obama (Parker Sawyers) and lawyer Michelle Robinson’s (Tika Sumpter) first date in the summer of 1989, his daddy duties certainly haven’t fallen by the wayside. “I can do a good bottle feeding,” Legend said of his parenting skills.

Of course, the new dad couldn’t pass up the moment to gush over his now (almost) 5 months old baby girl, describing her budding personality “very sweet.”

“She seems to be able to handle a lot of different environments because she’s traveled a lot with us already,” he shared. “We’ve been to Italy, and to France and New York, and Mexico with her, and so she’s traveled quite a lot with us already. She’s been able to handle all that so hopefully we’re getting her prepared for the kind of life we live.” Too cute.

On top of playing daddy and making films, Legend revealed he’s working on new music, adding he’ll be dedicating one special song to his leading lady Luna.
