Jeff Staple stands as one of the top creative forces of this generation. He is the founder and creative director of Staple Design and Reed Space and serves as CCO of Intertrend & Imprint Lab. During his career, his work has been honored and displayed at places such as Soho House, SneakerCon Legends, High Museum of Atlanta, New York University, and The White House Summit.

So when he teamed up with Dutch Masters to present the Craft Syndicate initiative, it proved to be the perfect match. Craft Syndicate celebrated artistry and hustle by searching for the top creative minds in the nation. After 1,000 submissions, Alexander-John stood out the most and became the winner of the Craft Syndicate program. Alexander-John is a self-taught artist who used his expertise to present creative designs in fashion and footwear.

“I found out about Craft-Syndicate through Jeff Staple’s post on social media,” Alexander-John said. “I saw the designers and I submitted shoes. I had been following Staple on social media for a while. It’s a grand opportunity to have a company consider your work. They wanted to see who was the cream of the crop. The project was really cool. It’s changed the perception of my brand.”

On Nov. 10, Staple and Alexander-John presented their new project, “Metamorphism,” at an event held at Extra Butter in New York.

“There are not a lot of corporations in this world who would allow us the ability to do what we did,” Staple said during the event. “I want to thank [Dutch Masters] for entrusting us with your brand. We scoured the country looking for creative people. Because of social media, we were able to do this with a hashtag. Over 1,000 people submitted. We narrowed it down and AJ was at the top of the pile. We decided to think about the concept of marbling. It’s two elements that blend perfectly. We began to research the scientific process of marbling. High pressure and stress makes this beautiful thing.”

Metamorphism pushes culture forward by adding new-age ideas to design. Here are products that are available at Extra Butter.
