Blac Chyna will become a Kardashian after marrying Rob Kardashian. However, her in-laws want to block her from trademarking her own name.

According to legal documents, Chyna is seeking to trademark “Angela Renee Kardashian” for the use of branding herself in entertainment and social media. But Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian believe that Chyna could possibly tarnish their brand if she’s allowed to use the name in business. The documents also claim that Chyna is only seeking to marry Rob to profit from the popularity of the Kardashian brand.

Although it appears to be a low move by the Kardashians to prevent Chyna from trademarking her last name, they could actually have a case. According to U.S. trademark laws, trademark infringement “hinges on whether there is a likelihood of confusion caused by the two marks at issue.” By blocking Chyna from trademarking the Kardashian name, the sisters are creating distance between themselves and Chyna. They want to establish that Chyna is not a part of their business or brand in any way.

Chyna and the Kardashians have a strange history together. Kim and Chyna were once best friends until Chyna’s former boyfriend, Tyga, began dating with Kim’s younger sister, Kylie Jenner. Chyna eventually began dating Rob Kardashian, which made most of the Kardashian sisters upset. Rob and Chyna recently had a baby girl, Dream, and plan to get married soon.

Yes, their reality show will continue to write itself. Chyna has yet to respond on social media about the pending lawsuit.
